A series of Ramadhan community iftar events are taking place as part of the Luton & Dunstable Hospital Helipad Appeal.

The fundraising drive, which is supporting the wider appeal by the hospital of reaching the £1.5 million target for a much-needed helipad. It is hoped that it is operational by summer 2020.

Amongst the Muslim community, the initiative has been supported by Discover Islam Luton and supported by the Luton Mosques and various community organisations, including women’s group Lantern.

“When someone suffers a major trauma, the quicker they receive specialist emergency care, the more likely the treatment will prevent death or serious disability,” said a spokesperson.

“The helipad is much-needed and could represent the difference between life and death.

“We hope as many people as possible can join us for one of the iftar events and help support this wonderful cause.”
