Over 100 runners from The Luton Lions Running Group raised a huge amount of money for the Discover Islam Centre’s Curry Kitchen initiative last Sunday when they ran in the Love Luton 10K & Half Marathon.

Inspire FM’s Mohammed Tariq was one of the team members, individuals that use the #TeamLuton message to raise money for good causes.

He said: “It was an amazing day and so pleasing to see people from all over our town raising money for charitable initiatives, including the Curry Kitchen.”

The figure raised is currently £14,900.90. This donation will go towards providing hot meals for homeless and needy in Luton.

The Luton Lions Running Group have raised significant amounts of money for charity in recent years, inspiring many others to join the group in the process.

Most significantly, they collected a superb £72,000 for Children with Cancer after running in the London Marathon.

The group have raised money for the Curry Kitchen, a community initiative from the Discover Islam Centre, working with Community Interest Luton, that feeds over 100 people weekly as part of their work with the needy and homeless in Luton.

Both Community Interest Luton and the Discover Islam Centre are community-based organisations that are driven to make a positive difference and to make the town we love even better to live in for all.
