Over 100 runners will be raising money for the Discover Islam Centre’s Curry Kitchen initiative for the town’s homeless this weekend when they run in the Love Luton 10K & Half Marathon.

Inspire FM’s Mohammed Tariq will join members of the community as part of the Luton Lions Running Group, individuals that use the #TeamLuton message to raise money for good causes.

In the photo, you will see Community Interest Luton’s Mostaque Koyes, along with Luton Borough Council’s chief executive Robin Porter.

Our presenter of The Morning Show has requested donations of just £15 to help provide meals for the town’s homeless people as he looks to meet his fundraising target ahead of Sunday’s run.

“I will be running to help support the Discover Islam Centre feed seven hundred homeless and needy people through its weekly Curry Kitchen on Fridays,” he said. “Please support with your dua and donations.

“A small donation from you will help feed ten people. This is a much-needed initiative and will provide support ahead of the colder months ahead.

“The Luton Lions Running Group inspire so many to support charities, and I am pleased to be a part of this fundraising drive.”

The group will be part of Love Luton 10K & Half Marathon, which takes place in Stockwood Park, joining thousands of others in promoting awareness of good causes.

The Luton Lions group have raised significant amounts of money for charity in recent years, inspiring many others to join the group in the process.

Most significantly, they collected a superb £72,000 for Children with Cancer after running in the London Marathon.

This time, they have pledged to raise money for the Curry Kitchen, a community initiative from the Discover Islam Centre that feeds over 100 people weekly as part of their work with the needy and homeless in Luton.

Both Community Interest Luton and the Discover Islam Centre are community-based organisations that are driven to make a positive difference and to make the town we love even better to live in for all.
