The Chaul End Eatery community kitchen was officially opened last week by Mayor of Luton Tahir Malik.

The facility will provide healthy and nutritious meals, as well as affordable food, for all the community.

Shagufta Anwar, manager of the Chaul End Eatery, said: “We aim to provide meals so that people throughout the community, especially those that are elderly and from vulnerable groups, can join us.

“I have been overwhelmed by the support from friends and family. It is the community’s kitchen, and it is the community has missed out in the time that it has been closed.”

The kitchen is based at the Chaul End Centre, on Dunstable Road.

Mayor of Luton Tahir Malik was special guest, cutting the ribbon at the opening ceremony attended by a number of dignitaries.

“It is great to have a place like this which offers a multi-cultural dining experience in a relaxed and friendly environment,” he said. “I take great pleasure in opening the Chaul End Eatery and know that it will provide a great venue for people to come together.”
