15,000 SMILES AT EID CELEBRATION IN LEWSEY PARK

The Luton community celebrated Eid al-Fitr, which marked the end of Ramadhan, with a two-day family extravaganza held at Lewsey Park on 4 and 5 June.
The event, Inspire Eid, attracted 15,000 attendees who enjoyed the festivities that included £1 funfair rides, food, stage performances, entertainers and free gifts for families.
The event was organised by Inspire FM with the aim to ensure everyone smiled on Eid and were able to enjoy the celebration without worrying about the cost of having fun.
Mohammed Tariq, Station Operations Manager at Inspire FM, said: “It was great to see the whole community come together to celebrate Eid. There were so many smiles and we received excellent feedback from the community.
“We wanted to put on an event where everyone was welcome and could enjoy the celebration without worrying about the cost. We had all our rides and activities priced at £1 to ensure everyone could have fun.
“We’d like to thank everyone who attended and our partners Crisis Aid, M & K Solicitors, Luton Sixth Form College, Barnfield College and Luton Borough Council for making this event possible.”
The event was also supported by Venue Central, Istanbul Grill, Shahi Nan Kebab, The Engine and Aqua Designs.
The charity partner for this years event was Crisis Aid with funds raised on the day going towards their work around the world and locally.
The event was open to everyone and saw Muslims and non-Muslims enjoy the celebration together.
One attendee said: “My kids really enjoyed themselves and loved the free gifts. The atmosphere was just great and you could feel the community spirit.”
